Congratulations to Professor Barbara (Dee) Ballyk on being awarded the Medical Alumni Award by the Class of 8T9! Lister Prize - May 2019
Congratulations to Dr. Cindi Morshead on being awarded the Lister Prize. The Lister Prize is awarded to an investigator who has shown outstanding and continuing productivity of international stature as evidenced by research publications, grants held, students trained and other evidence of stature of the work produced.

Mid-Career Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentorship
Congratulations to Cindi Morshead on being awarded the Mid-Career Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentorship Award. This is one of three annual graduate faculty teaching awards to honour and celebrate outstanding contributions to graduate education. Candidates are nominated by their Graduate Unit through a student (or recent graduate) -initiated process and the awards are adjudicated by the Faculty of Medicine Graduate Awards Committee consisting of faculty and graduate students.
W.T. Aikins Award
Congratulations to Professor Barbara (Dee) Ballyk. She is the recipient of the 2017 W.T. Aikins Award, the Faculty of Medicine’s “most prestigious award for sustained commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching” in the M.D. Program. This award came in the category of Teaching Performance, Large Group. Professor Ballyk was nominated for this award by first-year medical students.
Also in 2017, the graduating medical class chose her to receive the Pre-clinical Dr. E. Mary Hollington Teaching Award for having “taught with distinction in the preclinical or basic science portion of the curriculum”. Congratulations, Dee!
University of Toronto Community of Champions [Recognition for the FEAT program embedded in the Kinesiology Anatomy Course] - 2017
Congratulations to Dr. Judi Laprade! Community of Champions is a campus recognition program for those individuals who use strategies and approaches that support all students, especially those who experience marginalization and underrepresentation at U of T.
Faculty Members Receive Teaching Awards-2015
Congratulations to the following faculty members who were honored this year with teaching awards:
Dr. Mike Wiley was awarded the Dr. Mary Hollington Award for 2015. The graduating class selected him as the "faculty member who has taught with distinction in the pre-clinical or basic science portion of the curriculum".
Drs. Dee Ballyk and David Chan received the W.T. Aikins Award for Excellence in Course/Program Development. The Award is the most prestigious Faculty award for commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate medical education. Both instructors were praised for their teaching, organization and commitment and "their ability to take a good course and make it great".
Dr. Mike Wiley was awarded the Harry Whittaker Memorial Teaching Award in the Faculty of Medicine in 2012. The award is decided upon annually by the students of the first year medical class and awarded to a lecturer, demonstrator or tutor who gave encouragement and displayed genuine concern for student well-being and, through personal commitment to quality teaching, provided practical and clear insights in the basic sciences during the first year of the undergraduate medical program.
Dr. Ian Taylor was the recipient of the Dr. E. Mary Hollington Pre-Clinical Teaching Award. The Dr. Mary Hollington Excellence in Pre‐clinical Teaching
This award is presented to a teacher who has demonstrated excellence in the preclinical undergraduate medical education curriculum. The winner of this award is selected by the fourth year students.
Dr. Hong Sun received a grant from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation entitled "Cellular and molecular mechanisms of stroke in diabetes and its potential therapeutic treatments".
Dr. Paulo Koeberle was awarded funding from two highly competitive national funding agencies for his work on neural regeneration and repair. He received a 5 year CIHR grant entitled "Focal adhesion kinase: a pivotal role in CNS apoptosis and regeneration" and a 5 year NSERC grant " Molecular interactions that modulate P13 kinase and MAP kinase pathways during apoptosis".
Dr. Cindi Morshead has received the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in the Life Sciences 2015-2016 Award, as part of the Undergraduate Faculty Teaching Awards. This award recognizes sustained excellence in teaching, coordination and/or development of undergraduate lecture or seminar courses in Arts and Science offered by the Basic Science Departments in the Faculty of Medicine.

ANA301 - HUMAN EMBRYOLOGY
A half year course covering topics from fertilization to the end of the fetal period. Current concepts in mammalian morphogenesis applied to the development of the various organ systems; etiologies and pathogenesis of some of the more common human congenital abnormalities.
Qualifications
An academic background in embryology (preferably completion of ANA301 or equivalent) is required. Experience in teaching to undergraduate students and/or having relevant clinical embryology experience is preferred.
Relevant Criterion
Previous experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.

LMP2211H – ADVANCED ANATOMY DISSECTION
A half year course covering a regional approach to study the human body with correlation to its clinical application. Topics will expand general core knowledge of the human body, focusing on gross anatomy of organs, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels - structure and basic function. Pertinent clinical pathologies are also presented. This course serves as the foundational anatomy for the Pathologists’ Assistant graduate program.
Qualifications
Successful completion of a full body dissection course at the University of Toronto or equivalent is required. An academic background in anatomical studies (all organ systems) at the graduate level or equivalent is an asset. Familiarity with online learning via QUERCUS required.

This course is an introductory course designed to serve as the foundation in Human Anatomy for students in the Medical Radiation Sciences program. The course will introduce learners to the components of the human body, relationships of the surface anatomy and the body's internal components and discuss the basic function of these components. The course will encompass a regional approach to study the human body with correlation to its clinical application. Anatomy for MRS will also serve to prepare learners for ANRD121/ MRS164H1 (Relational Anatomy).
Qualifications
Previous completion of a full-year Human Anatomy course, with a laboratory.
Previous experience as a laboratory TA preferred.
Previous experience with online/virtual/remote instruction preferred.

This course is an introductory course designed to serve as the foundation in Human Anatomy for students in the Medical Radiation Sciences program. The course will introduce learners to the components of the human body, relationships of the surface anatomy and the body's internal components and discuss the basic function of these components. The course will encompass a regional approach to study the human body with correlation to its clinical application. Anatomy for MRS will also serve to prepare learners for ANRD121/ MRS164H1 (Relational Anatomy).
