Charles de Mestral

Biography:
Dr. Charles de Mestral is a graduate of the McGill University Faculty of Medicine. He completed General Surgery followed by Vascular Surgery training at the University of Toronto. During his general surgery residency, he obtained a PhD in health services research and economic evaluation.
Clinical Interests:
Peripheral arterial disease and amputation prevention in diabetes, vascular trauma, emergency vascular care, varicose veins, aortic aneurysms and carotid disease
Dr. de Mestral conducts research on clinical effectiveness as well as the provision, quality and cost of surgical care.
Academic Interests:
Dr. de Mestral is a Surgeon-Scientist in the Department of Surgery, an Adjunct Scientist with the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences, an Assistant Professor with the Institute for Health Policy Management and Evaluation and a Scientist in the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital
